4 Ways To Afford Your Implant Denture Procedure

by Andre Daniels

If you're tired of dealing with uncomfortable or even painful dentures, implant dentures may be the solution. An implant denture is surgically installed so that it can simply be snapped in. It does not shift and remains secure within your mouth, just as your natural teeth would. Though the process can be expensive, there are still a few options that you can use to afford this dramatic improvement.

1. Get a Medical Credit Line

Can't get a personal loan or credit card? Don't worry; there are medical credit lines that usually have substantially lowered credit requirements. These credit cards can only be used at medical service providers and they usually have very low introductory interest rates. A medical credit line can also come in handy in the future -- they can be used for any medical debt, from emergency room visits to, of course, dental work. You just need to make sure that you pay them on time!

2. Have Your Dentist Double Check the Medical Coding

Do you know how your insurance company determines whether your procedures are covered? All they do is check the numerical codes that are inserted into the invoice. Occasionally, these codes can be wrong -- marking a required surgical procedure as an elective medical procedure, or the opposite. To make sure that your insurance is giving you the right quote on your procedure, simply ask your dentist to double check their billing coding. Even the perfect dentist will occasionally make a mistake!

3. Contact a Dental School

Many dental programs will offer you a cheap dental procedure in exchange for allowing their students to practice. After all, dental students need to learn somewhere. Not only are you getting a discount, but you're helping aspiring doctors learn. Moreover, you'll also get the best of care; though the dental students will be learning, they will be constantly supervised by a qualified dental professional.

4. Don't Limit Yourself to One Area

You don't need to travel to another country to get a good deal. Often, you might find that simply looking one county or one state over can get you a far lower rate. Make sure that you call around for quotes before you make a decision, and always make sure that you are comparing apples to apples.

If you still aren't certain you can afford the implant denture procedure, consult with your dentist. Often, your dentist may have a payment plan or ideas for how you could get the procedure you want at a price you can afford. There are also low cost clinics in most areas and there are alternative surgical methods that could be more affordable.
